Metlakatla, Alaska.

May 1, 2008.

Metlakatla Alaska is a small native Tsimshian community on an island off the coast of Ketchikan. The island is lush temperate rainforest and is home to one of the largest runways in Alaska, put there during WWII by the US army. We were treated to a private performance by The Four Generation Dancers. The dance group consists of 4 generations of one family and they dance arround the country, promoting themselves and their Tsimshian herritage. The community has kept their culture, art and language alive and well for generations.
