Craig, Prince of Wales Island, Alaska.

May, 2008

Craig is the largest town on the remote logging island in South East Alaska of Prince of Wales Island. A wild island with lots of rain and few visitors, POW as its called has been beaten into submission by relentless logging and hunting, primarily of black bears. It once was that there were more black bears on POW than any other place on earth, and they are the largest. This may or may not be true today as lax fish and game regulations have been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of bears, som legal and some not, some reported and some not. POW is a massive island with almost as much rain as Ketchikan. Rivers run clear and full of fish all over the island. Wolves are still seen and have good numbers thruout the island. If not for the logging, POW would be paradise on earth.
