The Oregon coast is an amazing place full of life, death and decay. Ecola State Park represents an early portion of the temperate rainforest that we will continue to see as we travel north into SE Alaska. Stand like these are rare even in Alaska, where some cedar and spruce can get 18 or more feet across. Huge amounts of rain are partly the reason. Ketchikan Alaska gets an amazing 200 inches per year as compaiered to Seattle's paltry 30 something inches per year.
